Why Single Moms?80 percent of single parent families are headed by single mothers - nearly a third of those live in poverty.
The struggle and reality to provide healthy nutrition, housing, and basic life necessities for their children, are most important for single moms. Therefore, they will forego certain luxuries and pleasures for themselves, to make sure their children have what they need and want. Their sacrifice often times includes, proper shoes for special occasions and seasonal changes, as well as personal care items. |
Why Shoes?
It's not so much about the shoes, but the person wearing them." - Adriana Trigiani, Viola In Reel Life
Growing up in a single mother home, my mom shielded me from the hardships she faced. I remember her struggle and how hard she worked to make sure I always had more than enough. I also remember how she made sure I had good shoes, while she walked around with holes in the bottom of hers. That's something no one saw. She went about life doing what she had to do to provide, with a smile on her face, while the soles of her shoes told a different story. - Carica E. Williams, BATF Founder |
Good news of hope and restoration through outreach.
Walking a short distance in the shoes of a single parent carries a strength and sacrifice that only a single parent knows and can identify with. As a community, we strive to help meet their needs so they are encouraged to have hope in a positive future and raise our leaders of tomorrow.
